Carex is working with a partner in the insurance industry to find an experienced Product Owner to lead the strategy, development, and delivery of one to three technology products that drive business value.

This hybrid, direct hire/permanent role requires a presence in the office 10 days per month in Madison, WI (with flexible scheduling) and involves close collaboration with stakeholders across the organization to define product goals, understand user needs, and guide feature development through a data-informed approach. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder, communicator, and strategic thinker with a deep understanding of Agile practices and a passion for delivering impactful solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Define and communicate product vision, goals, and roadmaps aligned with organizational objectives
• Prioritize product features and user stories based on business value, user insights, and stakeholder feedback
• Gather and analyze stakeholder input, ensuring their needs and priorities are clearly represented
• Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is refined, prioritized, and aligned with product goals
• Define user stories, acceptance criteria, and success metrics for backlog items
• Lead and coordinate product releases, including planning scope and communicating updates to stakeholders
• Collaborate daily with development teams to clarify requirements, offer feedback, and support delivery
• Participate in key Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and inform product strategy
• Define and monitor KPIs to track product performance and value delivery
• Ensure features meet quality expectations and collaborate on issue resolution with the development team
• Present regular updates on product progress and performance to stakeholders and leadership
  
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
• 3 years of experience as a Scrum Product Owner
• Strong knowledge of Agile principles and practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proven ability to influence and lead without authority
• Skilled in research, usability testing, and turning insights into action
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across development, design, testing, and stakeholder teams
• Proficient in leveraging data to inform decisions and improve product outcomes
• Ability to manage ambiguity and adapt in a fast-changing environment
• Experience in life insurance or financial services preferred
• PSPO or similar professional product owner certification preferred
