Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort
- Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates with precision and attention to detail
- Support patients during medical procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained
- Document patient information accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect confidentiality
- Help transfer patients safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other patient transfer methods, ensuring safe handling practices at all times
- Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff or healthcare providers
- Provide emotional support and effective communication tailored to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, or behavioral health conditions
Skills
- Proven experience working with geriatric patients, individuals with disabilities, or in long-term care settings
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe patient care
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely using proper lifting practices and equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Excellent caregiver communication skills to foster trust and understanding with patients and team members
- Experience in specialized areas such as Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, ICU or trauma center environments is highly desirable
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings such as emergency medicine or urgent care environments
