Job Overview

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform care plans.
• Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and medical records management.
• Assist with complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including urinary and vascular), tube feeding, and sterile processing techniques.
• Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in trauma medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or emergency settings.
• Conduct diagnostic evaluations like laboratory specimen collection/processing, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and basic laboratory tests.
• Provide patient education on health coaching topics such as geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice & palliative medicine, or family planning.
• Support discharge planning and case management efforts to ensure seamless transitions of care across settings like hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care environments.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in the state of practice with current CPR/BLS certification.
• Proven experience in diverse clinical settings such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care transport, or outpatient clinics.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology principles, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
• Ability to perform advanced skills including IV insertion, phlebotomy, aseptic technique, ventilator management, and wound suturing.
• Excellent communication skills for patient assessment and interdisciplinary collaboration within fast-paced environments such as trauma centers or Level I & II Trauma Centers.
