Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow with four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and maintaining aseptic technique to uphold infection control standards.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, to ensure accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment details in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to effectively communicate with patients and team members.
- Assist with medical documentation related to dental procedures and ensure all records are up-to-date for legal and clinical purposes.
Experience
We are currently seeking a Dental Assistant with experience in Dentrix. Preferably, the ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in entering treatment plans into the dental chart accurately and efficiently, and have a strong understanding of dental codes.
- Prior experience working in a dental office setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry.
- Proficiency in dental assisting tasks such as chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and applying infection control protocols is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems including Dentrix enhances efficiency in managing patient data.
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures, medical imaging including 3D scanning technology, and medical terminology is advantageous.
- Experience supporting specialized areas like prosthodontics or endodontics will be considered a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and infection control practices ensures compliance with legal standards.
