Job description:
We are looking for an upbeat caregiver for our 19 year old with Autism, primarily for after school hours on Mondays and Tuesdays, some weekends and over school breaks. The number of hours worked is flexible and can be determined based on our mutual needs.
Our son likes to relax at home for part of the day and then spend time out in the community having fun. At home he is very independent and does not need hands on care other than with simple meal prep or prompting when it's time to transition to a new task. He is very artistic, and spends a lot of time building 3D sculptures and other original art.
While his autism behaviors are not frequent, he does have sensory disruptions where he will need a person with experience in talking him through the episodes safely. For this reason we are looking for someone with a 1 years of experience working specifically with teens or young adults with special needs, such as a para or behavior therapist who has worked with high school students. People who have only worked with younger kids or the elderly may not be a good fit.

Candidates must have reliable transportation and be insured. Our employees receive pay and the federal mileage reimbursement rate through Ramsey County, and must be able to pass a Ramsey County criminal background check.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care and support to our son with special needs in various settings, including at home and in the community.
- Supervise closely in all settings for safety, especially in public.
- Assist our son with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal preparation and light cleaning.
- Transport to community outings.
- Foster positive relationships with our son and support overall well-being.
