What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Jockey (CDL-B) position at Careers?
1st Shift: 6am-4:30pm Mon-Thurs, OT on Fridays
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform and abide by safety policies and procedures while performing related assignments.
• Safe and efficient operation of yard truck/tractor.
• Operate mobile tractor/truck safely moving product (Tractor Trailer) in and out of work while manufacturing is still ongoing.
• Operate mobile tractor/truck in and out of production area/bays transporting tractor trailer product to and from work area and to and from storage/inventory areas.
• Engage and disengage tractor trailer product to and from mobile tractor/truck.
• Drive and operate mobile tractor/Truck under 15 mph in and around production area and storage locations while on asphalt, concrete, and gravel surfaces in an active environment.
• Awareness and thorough knowledge of on-hand inventory and location of product.
• Communicate with inventory management as well as production management regarding location and movement of production needs.
• Performs Safety and Maintenance check of mobile Tractor/Truck equipment before start, during operation, and end of use.
• Clean & keep organized the area in which you work during and at the end of the shift.
• This position will report to and work in the warehouse when there are no trailers to be maneuvered.
Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:

• Must have a valid CDL-B License
• Demonstrate the ability to successfully complete company designated safe mobile equipment operation requirements.
• Demonstrate the ability to interpret and understand both verbal and written forms of communication including necessary information regarding production and safety.
• Continued demonstration of the ability to work individually or as a member of a team.
• Ability to communicate in various forms of communication (Radio-In person- handwritten documents)
• Ability to work assigned shifts.
• Previous yard jockey or tractor trailer operation experience is preferred.
• Experience or knowledge in tractor trailer building or service & repair is preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing or mechanical related field is preferred.
Physical Demands:
● Manual dexterity or the equivalent is to be at a level that permits the employee to perform, basic functions of the job including safety, providing the ability to grasp and manipulate objects large and small with precise movement.
● At times and dependent upon area of assignment, may be required to lift over 50 lbs with assistance but less than 100lbs.
● Climbing in and out of cab of tractor/truck up and down to make necessary safety checks along with engaging and disengaging trailer product.
● At times may exit and enter various buildings during inclement weather conditions.
● At times and dependent upon area of assignment, may be required to lift up to 40 lbs.
● Required to push and pull with arms and hands.
● Requirements of physical demands and exposure to dust and noise associated with industrial environments and equipment.
