What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President Finance position at Careers Launch Talent Group?
Our client is a well-established, top-performing national homebuilder, and they are seeking a Vice President of Finance and Administration to lead divisional finance for its Mid-Atlantic operation - one of the company's largest and most profitable divisions. This is a succession-driven replacement for a long-tenured incumbent who is retiring, with the outgoing VP available to support onboarding and transition.
Reporting directly to the Division President and partnering closely with a Regional Finance leader, the VP of Finance serves as the senior financial business partner for the division. The role blends divisional FP&A, controller-type responsibilities, and operational business partnership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the divisional planning process — two full planning cycles per year plus monthly updates — including community-level forecasting of pricing, sales pace, takedowns, starts, deliveries, revenue, and costs
- Partnering regularly with the Division President, VP of Sales, VP of Operations, and Director of Land Development to monitor execution against the business plan
- Preparing and presenting land committee / white book analyses in conjunction with the regional finance team
- Reviewing monthly reports from centralized accounting and ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of financial packages
- Providing functional leadership to two direct reports
- Driving adoption of evolving reporting tools, including a transition from legacy ERP to an updated platform, and increased use of Power BI
- Acting as a key member of the divisional leadership team
Must-haves
- Strong financial planning and forecasting capability, including community-level pro forma modeling
- Business partnership orientation — working regularly with Sales, Operations, Construction, and Land to help those teams execute against plan
- Clear, confident communicator who can present to senior leadership and serve as the financial voice of the division
- Ability to work in a hands-on, player-coach capacity
- Experience working finance/account in residential homebuilding
- Proficient in MS Excel
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with JD Edwards E1 or similar homebuilding ERP
- Experience with Power BI or similar BI reporting tools
- Exposure to land committee analysis and land acquisition modeling
