Shift: Mon - Fri 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM Rotational Sat 8:00 PM - 4:30 AM.
Pay rate: $20/hr on W2
Position Summary
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This role is critical to maintaining quality standards and ensuring customer satisfaction. The SPT I performs a variety of specimen handling and data entry tasks in a fast-paced, production-oriented laboratory environment, while adhering to strict safety, compliance, and quality guidelines.
Key Responsibilities

Perform general specimen processing support functions, including but not limited to:

A-station processing

Presorting specimens
-
Pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory

Imaging and microfilming
-
Centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens

Accurately enter specimen and test information into laboratory systems (minimum of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour).

Learn and correctly identify specimen types related to tests ordered by clients.

Understand and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements related to test ordering, which may change frequently.

Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting departmental turnaround times.

Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and other departments.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Adhere to all safety, compliance, and organizational policies and procedures.

Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to frequent changes in workload, priorities, and customer demands.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Basic computer skills and data entry experience.

Ability to work night shifts and be available for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous laboratory or specimen processing experience.

Medical background with knowledge of clinical laboratory medical terminology.

Previous hospital laboratory experience.

Experience working in a production or high-volume environment.
