What are the responsibilities and job description for the Work-Based Learning (WBL) Support Specialist position at CAREER READINESS?

The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Support Specialist assists in the work-based learning implementation across the division. This position works with educational leaders, community partners, and business and industry leaders to support and secure work-based learning opportunities for all students in SCPS. They collaborate and engage with internal and external stakeholders to initiate partnerships and enhance student success.
Essential Functions:
- Works collaboratively with the WBL Coordinator to assist in planning, developing, and implementing work-based learning (WBL) programs to meet identified needs
- Supports WBL documentation audits for accuracy in accordance with Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) WBL guidelines
- Promotes the benefits of WBL programs to stakeholders, including students, parents, employers, and community leaders
- Implements monthly division wide career chats
- Develops marketing materials and strategies to attract participants and employer partners
- Promotes the WBL program to all stakeholders—school personnel, students, parents, and the business community; shares information essential to school personnel, including counselors, faculty, and administrators
- Supports the recruitment of students to participate in WBL programs CTE classes and at appreciation luncheons/banquets, assembly programs, and CTSO meetings
- Provides students with the level of support necessary to thrive in WBL through equitable resources, support and programming
- Maintains accurate and timely data entry for Work-Based Learning (WBL) certifications.
- Collaborates with the Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE) to expand and enhance social media presence and outreach efforts
- Supports division-wide initiatives and events, including the 4E Expo, Business Partner Appreciation events, and Signing Day
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of regional events such as Intern Expo and Mock Interview Day
- Supports the collection, organization, and maintenance of required WBL documentation.
- Manages and maintains the business partner database, including platforms such as Xello and related tracking spreadsheets

Education and Experience:
Required
- Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university -OR- High School Diploma of GED with recent and successful industry experience
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Currently possesses a Technical Professional, Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License

Employment Terms: Employment is offered as an 12-month (243 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked daily. This position is evaluated annually.
