Career Readiness Paraeducators prepare students for work-based learning (WBL) experiences and the world of work by facilitating interview skills, application/resume support, workplace tours, career speakers, internships, externships, and service learning experiences. This position helps students develop the communication and engagement skills to effectively connect with future employers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Connects students to career opportunities based on individual interests/skills and coordinates work-based learning opportunities for students on and off campus.
- Supports and partners with school counselors as students complete WBL experiences based on their academic and career plans.
- Promotes and manages requests via the Naviance web-based information system to connect SCPS high school students with employers and community mentors to provide meaningful WBL opportunities.
- Collaborates with teachers to disseminate information on WBL programs and opportunities for students.
- Maintains required documentation for WBL experiences; collects and submits participant data on scheduled deadlines in required reporting format.
- Establishes relationships with business and local workforce agencies for the purpose of increasing the number and quality of WBL experiences available to SCPS students.
- Communicates regularly with stakeholders, including parents, businesses, and community partners.

Education and Experience:
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or relatedsetting

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (185 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
