What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern-Claims Legal Law Student position at Career Opportunities?
Perform legal research for members of the Claims Legal team. During the summer, this position is full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) preferably in the home office. There may also be an opportunity to work flexible, part-time hours (approximately 15-20 hours per week) remotely during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during school breaks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform legal research for members of the Claims Legal team
- Draft legal correspondence
- Organize, label, analyze, and summarize legal documents
- Maintain databases & spreadsheets
- Assist with review of legal fees and costs
- Other duties and projects as assigned within the Claims Legal team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Basic computer software knowledge (word processing, e-mail, accessing and updating databases)
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize work
- Ability to work independently
- PREFERRED:
- Currently working toward a pre-law or law degree
- Prior office experience
- Understanding of legal terminology
- Ability to analyze case law, contracts, regulations, and insurance policy language
