Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS)

Full-Time | 37.5 Hours Per Week | Onsite | School-Based

Position Overview

Career Links is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) to support students across the Anoka-Hennepin School District. This full-time, onsite position focuses on implementing positive behavior supports, conducting behavioral assessments, and collaborating with educational teams to promote student success in a safe and supportive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with behavioral challenges, conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and developing effective intervention strategies that support positive outcomes for students.

Key Qualifications

Required

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification OR
  • Licensed Minnesota Special Education Teacher with a Tier 3 or Tier 4 License
  • Experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
  • Experience implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple school sites
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Essential Responsibilities

  • Consult with school teams to develop and implement effective behavior intervention strategies.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop behavior support recommendations.
  • Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to improve student outcomes.
  • Support students in developing appropriate behavioral, social, and self-regulation skills.
  • Utilize proactive strategies, de-escalation techniques, and redirection to address challenging behaviors.
  • Assist with the implementation of behavior intervention plans and individualized student supports.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to ensure consistent behavioral programming.
  • Provide coaching, consultation, and training to school staff regarding behavioral strategies and best practices.
  • Analyze behavioral data and utilize findings to guide programming decisions and student interventions.
  • Support the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with all applicable regulations and district policies.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive educational environment.
  • May be required to implement approved restrictive procedures in accordance with district policy and state guidelines.
  • Travel between 3–4 assigned school sites as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing student and program needs
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
