Director of Accounting

A Tier-1 real estate firm is seeking a Director of Accounting to oversee their GL and financial reporting team. Reporting directly up into the VP Corporate Controller, this role will help ensure compliance with GAAP, financial reporting and G&A. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage cash flow, prepare financial reports, and lead a team of talented accounting professionals all within a world-class company. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, and the company is looking to hire quickly!

Duties

• Manage the overall accounting functions including financial reporting, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations while maintaining accurate financial records.
• Utilize AI to help streamline large scale accounting projects
• Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and regulatory bodies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee budget preparation and forecasting processes to support organizational goals.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to ensure integrity of financial data.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide insights on financial performance and assist in strategic planning.
• Train and mentor accounting staff to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA a plus but not required.
• Public accounting background a plus, not required
• Thrives in a fast-paced corporate accounting department, with proven ability to lead
• Familiar with major AI tools to help streamline reporting a plus
• Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and technical accounting principles.
• Highly proficient with Excel and large ERP systems (SAP)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
