A Tier-1 real estate firm is seeking a Director of Accounting to oversee their GL and financial reporting team. Reporting directly up into the VP Corporate Controller, this role will help ensure compliance with GAAP, financial reporting and G&A. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage cash flow, prepare financial reports, and lead a team of talented accounting professionals all within a world-class company. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, and the company is looking to hire quickly!
Duties
- Manage the overall accounting functions including financial reporting, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations while maintaining accurate financial records.
- Utilize AI to help streamline large scale accounting projects
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and regulatory bodies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee budget preparation and forecasting processes to support organizational goals.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to ensure integrity of financial data.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide insights on financial performance and assist in strategic planning.
- Train and mentor accounting staff to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA a plus but not required.
- Public accounting background a plus, not required
- Thrives in a fast-paced corporate accounting department, with proven ability to lead
- Familiar with major AI tools to help streamline reporting a plus
- Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and technical accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with Excel and large ERP systems (SAP)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
