Position Summary
Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept
University Housing & Residence Life (UHRL) acts as stewards of the student experience and provides exceptional residential communities within a unique urban setting. We embrace an inclusive, nurturing community to produce a comprehensive learning experience that will foster education and promote individual development. UHRL encompasses 5 buildings which house approximately 1400 residents.
The mission of University Housing & Residence Life (UHRL) is to provide a unique living experience in Portland’s urban environment through actively engaged residential communities that promote student success :https://www.pdx.edu/housing/
Position Summary
The Accounts Coordinator is part of the University Housing & Residence Life team. This position oversees student billing and contracts, housing eligibility, and provides frontline customer service for the department.
Primary Responsibilities Include
Must be willing to work occasional weekends (approx 2 per year).

Contributes to a culture of environmental stewardship, practices resource conservation, and actively works toward achieving long-term sustainability goals.

Work Days/Hours Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting salary rate for this position will be between $19.36 and $21.91 per hour. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR. PSU’s excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities

Position Summary
The Accounts Coordinator is part of the University Housing & Residence Life team. This position oversees student billing and contracts, housing eligibility, and provides frontline customer service for the department.
Primary Responsibilities Include
- Managing quarterly term billing for housing, first year meal plans, and special billings
- Processing invoices, journal vouchers, contract and damage fees, and refunds
- Evaluating academic and financial eligibility of residents
- Providing customer service to current and prospective students
- Processing contract changes including cancellation, reactivation, and reassignment requests
- Performing regular audits to ensure accounting accuracy
- Supporting Summer Housing & Conferences with invoicing and processing payments
- 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of Accounting courses OR
- An Associates Degree in Accounting; AND
- One year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.
Must be willing to work occasional weekends (approx 2 per year).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience working with databases similar to StarRez and Banner.
- Experience providing front-line customer service.
- Experience working in student housing or higher education.
- Experience working in a high-volume, high-stress environment with various interruptions.
- Creates an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences.
- Functions and communicates effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities and cultural backgrounds.
- Seeks opportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings with a willingness to change for continual improvement.
