TITLE: Teacher, Auto Tech - Career & Tech Anticipated September 2026
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month
REPORTS TO: Career & Tech Building Principal
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Provide training to juniors and seniors with class room instruction, project-based learning and hands-on skills that would prepare students to be college and career ready in the various fields of Automotive Technology.
- Communicate with parents, teachers, home school counselors and others involved with the education of the student
- Maintain discipline in the classroom and work sites
- Monitor students’ academic progress including, but not limited to progress/marking period grades, attendance, hands-on performance skills
- Implement 504 plans and IEPs for students with diverse learning needs
- Keep current with changes and development in automotice technology industries
- Other responsibilities as determined by the CTE Principal
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Teaching and work experience in the Automotive Industry to include in-depth, comprehensive and appropriate work experience in the diagnosis, repair and/or operation of the major electro-mechanical systems of automobiles and/or heavy equipment. Experience may include, but is not limited to, work as an automotive engine technician/mechanic, transmission technician/re-builder, brake and suspension specialist, and/or alignment specialist. Excellent interpersonal skills and work ethic.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have or be eligible for: NYS Career and Technical Education Certification in Vehicle Mechanical Repair 7-12.
