Duties

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
• Support clients in developing and maintaining social skills through engaging activities and communication.
• Provide transportation assistance using personal or agency vehicles for appointments, errands, or community outings.
• Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and address challenging situations effectively.
• Collect and document data related to client progress, activities, and behavioral changes for ongoing care planning.
• Administer medication under prescribed protocols when necessary, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Support clients with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism by applying specialized techniques like sign language or behavioral health strategies.

Skills

• Proven experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
• Strong understanding of special education principles and behavioral health practices.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly desirable for effective communication.
• Excellent communication skills to interact clearly with clients, families, and team members.
• Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely and responsibly for client transportation.
• Knowledge of home and community care best practices to support clients in their daily environments.
• Experience working with clients who have cognitive disabilities or intellectual disabilities support needs.
• Capable of performing caregiving tasks such as assisting with personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
• Familiarity with medication administration procedures and first aid/CPR certification for emergency response readiness.
• Strong data collection skills to track client progress accurately over time.
