Camp CARE is scheduled to take place June 22, 2026 – June 25, 2026 & June 29, 2026 – July 2, 2026. Volunteers must be able to fulfill at least one full week of camp.
CARE of Southeastern Michigan is currently accepting volunteer applications for Camp CARE. Camp CARE is a two-week camp for children in first grade through high school impacted by a loved one’s substance use. As a member of the Prevention Team, the ideal candidate will work with youth to deliver programming related to building self-esteem, strengthening resiliency, and developing leadership skills. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with CARE staff members to prepare age-specific activities and lessons plans for the upcoming camp season. The Camp CARE Volunteer will help co-lead groups of 10-15 youth, facilitating lessons, leading craft projects and games, while interacting with other staff and guests. The ideal candidate will serve as a strong support to CARE staff members, practice patience and empathy with our campers, be an ideal role model to the youth attending our camps. This position includes preparation time for lesson planning (2-4 sessions) before camp. Volunteers will also assist with the management of campsite setup.
