Job Summary: We focus on improving the lives of children and families by providing comprehensive support through accessible childcare and the love of Christ. Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment is an essential part of providing quality care for children. The position requires regular physical activity, including bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and standing for extended periods. The cleaner must be attentive to safety and sanitation requirements, properly use and store cleaning supplies, and respond promptly to spills, messes, and other cleaning needs. The ability to work independently, follow established cleaning procedures, maintain confidentiality, and interact respectfully with children, families, and staff is essential.
List of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and disinfecting classrooms, toys, tables, chairs, and play areas
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
- Cleaning bathrooms, sinks, toilets, and changing areas
- Emptying trash and replacing liners
- Sanitizing high-touch surfaces such as door handles and light switches
- Cleaning windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces
- Restocking cleaning and paper supplies
- Following proper sanitation and chemical-safety procedures
- Reporting spills, damage, maintenance issues, or safety hazards
- Keeping cleaning supplies safely stored away from children
- Performing deep-cleaning tasks as scheduled
- Gather and empty trash and recycling;
- Clean floors by vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping;
- Wash and Sanitize dishes;
- Occasionally supervise and monitor a safe play and learning environment;
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for children and staff
- Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to remain calm and patient at all times with a compassionate demeanor;
- Skilled in active listening;
- Knowledge of basic cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection procedures.
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment, tools, and approved cleaning products.
- Knowledge of proper procedures for handling, labeling, and storing cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for children, families, and staff.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, schedules, and established cleaning procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify areas requiring additional cleaning or sanitation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Dependable, responsible, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with childcare center policies, health and safety regulations, and sanitation requirements.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and communicate concerns or maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Strong problem solving abilities;
- 1 year in a similar role strongly preferred;
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move quickly;
- Lifting, equipment, and supplies, up to 50 pounds in weight;
- Frequent stepping, bending, twisting, and kneeling forextended periods;
- Ability to visually and audibly respond to children in emergency situations;
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids. Frequent hand washing is a must;
