Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Review medical records and documentation to verify coding accuracy and compliance with insurance requirements.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and collecting payments.
- Handle incoming calls professionally, answer patient inquiries, and provide information regarding billing procedures and insurance coverage.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and coordinate collections efforts for outstanding balances through medical collection procedures.
- Maintain organized electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems to ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing medical records, processing referrals, and supporting overall office operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding (DRG, CPT, ICD-9/10), and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Strong knowledge of medical office procedures, including appointment scheduling, patient registration, and insurance verification.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems to document and manage medical records efficiently.
- Understanding of medical coding standards and billing regulations to ensure compliance.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
