What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Technician position at Cardinal Spellman High?
The Level 1 IT Technician provides first-line technical support to staff, students, and administrators. This role focuses on troubleshooting and resolving basic hardware, software, and classroom technology issues, while ensuring excellent customer service. The Level 1 Technician will also support the setup and maintenance of student and staff devices and assist with inventory management. This position works collaboratively with teachers and administrators to ensure that all classroom technologies are fully supported and operating with maximum efficiency. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, determined to find timely solutions, and possess a strong aptitude for learning new technical skills.
Responsibilities and Duties: (to include but not limited to)
Serve as the first point of contact for technology support, resolving requests in a timely and professional manner.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform component-level repairs on all School utilized devices,
Must be proficient in the Google Admin Console
Possess working knowledge of Windows, IOS, Apple TV and Mac Operating systems.
Assist in maintaining an up-to-date hardware inventory.
Provide hands-on hardware and software support to users across the school.
Troubleshoot common device, software, and peripheral problems independently.
Provide training and in-field support to staff to improve their understanding and utilization of technology.
Assist with setting up and configuring student and staff device accounts across various instructional platforms.
Assist in the installation, configuration, and rollout of new equipment and technology projects.
Job Requirements
A degree in Information Systems or a technology-related discipline
Prior Experience in help desk or support service in an educational environment (In lieu of a technical degree in the field).
Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office, and common classroom technology.
A flexible and positive approach to problem-solving, with an ability to gel with the team and maintain a service-oriented demeanor.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
Ability to periodically lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Preferred: Familiarity with HP/Aruba networking equipment (Controllers, Switches & APs).
Preferred: Exposure to Fortinet Firewalls.
