JOB TITLE 

Transportation driver 

The Gables of Canton is looking for an as needed Transport driver to assist in transporting residents to appointments and assist with outings.

Key Accountability  

The Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to and from medical appointments, outings, errands, and scheduled activities while providing exceptional customer service and compassionate care. This position helps support residents’ independence, safety, and overall well-being. To Provide an efficient, exceptional Transport experience with first-class customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities

•    Safely transport residents to appointments, shopping trips, community outings, and facility activities

•    Assist residents entering and exiting the vehicle as needed

•    Ensure wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices are properly secured

•    Maintain a friendly, respectful, and professional attitude toward residents, families, and staff

•    Follow all traffic laws and facility transportation policies

•    Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly

•    Keep transportation vehicles clean, fueled, and in good working condition

•    Maintain accurate transportation logs and appointment schedules

•    Communicate delays, incidents, or resident concerns to management

•    Assist with resident activities or other duties as assigned when transportation needs are limited

Qualifications

•    High school diploma or GED 

•    Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required

•    Previous experience transporting seniors or working in healthcare preferred

•    Ability to safely operate vans, wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and lifts

•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills

•    Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in all situations

•    Must pass background check, Physical, and drug screening

Work Environment

•    Assisted living community setting

•    Local travel required for resident transportation

•    May work weekdays, evenings, weekends.
