Executive Director – Senior Living – Grand Rapids, MI
Reports to: Regional Director of Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Position Summary:
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operation of the senior living community. This position ensures high-quality resident care and services, regulatory compliance, financial performance, employee engagement, and resident/family satisfaction. The Executive Director serves as the primary leader of the community and promotes a culture of excellence, compassion, and accountability.
Essential Duties:
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the community.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain a safe, resident-centered environment that promotes quality of life.
- Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, revenue growth, expense management, and occupancy goals.
- Recruit, develop, and retain qualified staff.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, healthcare providers, and community partners.
- Monitor and improve resident satisfaction and service quality.
- Lead department managers to achieve operational and organizational goals.
- Ensure preparedness for regulatory surveys and/or inspections.
- Represent the community in professional and community organizations.
Qualifications:
- High-School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration or a related field highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in senior living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or healthcare operations.
- Demonstrated success in financial management and budget oversight.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
