Cardinal - Plan. Survey. Engineer. is a well-established civil engineering and land surveying firm rooted in Lake Geneva, WI. We’re known for delivering high-quality services with a personal, community-first touch. As a part of our growing Engineering Team, this position offers the opportunity to produce, refine, and shape engineering design projects across residential, commercial, and municipal land developments.
Position Overview
The Engineering Technician is primarily responsible for the production and completion of all assigned engineering drafting tasks and responsibilities. Working closely with our Project Managers, this role ensures the accuracy, efficiency, and high quality of drafting deliverables across all assigned projects.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Designing various types of engineering projects, including Plan Sets, Residential and Commercial Subdivisions, Large Commercial Sites, Sanitary and Storm Sewer, Water Mains, Post-Construction Stormwater, Water and Sanitary Laterals, and various design reports.
- Communicating daily with the Engineering Project Manager to discuss assigned jobs, daily schedules, and status reports.
- Utilizing Civil 3D, Google Docs, Microsoft Suit, HydroCAD, and WinSLAMM for drafting and design needs.
- Preparing required project checklists (e.g., AE-7, CSM, PRE-PLAT, ZONING, and Erosion Control).
- Updating and maintaining all assigned digital and physical project folders to ensure complete accuracy.
- Completing revisions on assigned jobs efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Troubleshooting technical and software drafting challenges as needed.
- Logging daily hours accurately, maintaining a strong focus on production.
- Communicating positively and professionally with clients, contractors, and internal team members while upholding company values, mission, and ethics.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background and technical drafting proficiency using Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WinSLAMM, and Microsoft Office / Google Workspaces.
- Experience drafting plan sets, stormwater management solutions, utility lines, and subdivision plats.
- High-Level of accuracy, due diligence, and attention to detail in technical drafting and sheet preparations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss assigned project details confidently with project managers.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to monitor deadlines and manage priorities effectively.
- Comfort working in a collaborative, people-focused environment.

Job Title: Engineering Technician
Rate: $24.04–$27 per hour based on experience
Job Type: Full-Time
Expected Hours: 32-40hrs per week
Work Location: In Office
