Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations within the sweet potato fry processing facility. This role ensures that production goals are met efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality and food safety standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to driving performance, improving processes, and developing team members.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Supervise day-to-day processing activities including washing, peeling, cutting, frying, freezing, and packaging of sweet potato products
- Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently to meet customer demand and shipping deadlines
- Monitor throughput, yields, and downtime to optimize productivity
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and develop production staff, including line workers and machine operators
- Enforce accountability, discipline, and performance standards on the production floor
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on safety and continuous improvement
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure strict adherence to all food safety standards (HACCP, GMPs, USDA/FDA requirements)
- Monitor product quality and consistency throughout the production process
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to address and resolve any product or process deviations
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular safety checks and ensure proper use of PPE
- Report and investigate incidents, implementing corrective actions as needed
Process Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to reduce waste and increase output
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Collaborate with maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability
Reporting & Communication
- Track and report key production metrics, including output, labor efficiency, and downtime
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation
- Communicate effectively with management, maintenance, QA, and warehouse teams
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing or processing (preferred)
- Experience in vegetable processing or frozen food production is a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMPs)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment

Working Conditions
