Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer medications accurately according to physician orders and facility protocols, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, assess responses to medication, and report any adverse reactions or changes in condition promptly.
- Maintain detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, documenting medication administration, patient care activities, and relevant observations.
- Assist with specialized care procedures including tube feeding, catheter care, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care to support residents’ unique needs.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to develop individualized care plans focused on senior care, hospice care, memory care, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Ensure medication storage areas are secure, organized, and compliant with safety standards; manage inventory levels and restock supplies as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols related to medical records management, medical terminology usage, and anatomy/physiology knowledge to ensure high-quality patient care.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals or home & community care environments.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and the principles of medication administration.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical documentation practices.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks including vital signs measurement, tube feeding assistance, catheter care, and working with individuals with disabilities or dementia-related conditions.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and residents’ families.
