Primary Work Location:
MULTISITE: Multisite staff work across several program locations throughout Alameda County, providing care and support wherever it is most needed. These sites offer a range of services, including post-hospitalization, medically supported shelter, medical respite care, skilled nursing, and caregiving support.
Job Summary:
The Food Services Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of Cardea’s meal and nutrition services across multiple sites. Responsibilities include food delivery and inventory control, stocking and rotation, meal prep and support with service, as well as ensuring safe food handling and sanitation practices. This position plays a critical role in ensuring reliable access to nutritious meals for our participants.
Qualifications:Job Duties:

Receive, stock, and rotate food deliveries using FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory methods

Track and manage inventory across kitchen and pantry areas

Deliver food and supplies to program sites as scheduled

Support meal preparation, cooking, and meal service setup and breakdown
-
Maintain cleanliness and compliance with food safety standards in all food service areas

Assist with other food service-related duties as assigned
Minimum Required Skills & Qualifications:

Valid California Driver’s License
-
Valid Food Handler or ServSafe Certification
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods, including frequent walking, bending, and reaching
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

Have a passion for serving marginalized populations

Prior experience in food service, kitchen operations, or stocking/inventory

Comfort working in fast-paced, team-based environments
