Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and proactive Safety Representative to join our airfield construction team. The Safety Rep will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, promoting a strong safety culture on-site, and assisting in the continuous improvement of safety programs throughout the project lifecycle.
This role requires a hands-on professional with a solid background in construction safety, ideally with experience working in high-security or airfield environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and enforce compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, FAA regulations, and client-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct daily site inspections and hazard assessments; identify and mitigate unsafe conditions.
- Lead and document safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
- Assist in accident/incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
- Maintain accurate safety records, including reports, inspections, and training documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure safety plans are effectively implemented.
- Provide ongoing training and coaching to personnel to strengthen the site’s safety culture.
- Support emergency response planning and drills as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience: 2–4 years of construction safety experience; experience in airfield or heavy civil construction preferred.
- Certification: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required; additional safety credentials (e.g., CPR/First Aid, CHST, EM 385-1-1) preferred.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with FAA and DOT safety requirements, confined space, fall protection, and heavy equipment safety.
- Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work near aircraft
- Must be able to wear required PPE and access active construction zones safely.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
