Title: Sales Representative
Location: New York, NY
Summary:
Carboline is looking to fill an open Territory Sales Representative within their Northeast Territory and are seeking candidates located near large cities in the New York Metro Area. This position will be responsible for both selling and generating new business with already established customers while also developing new prospects to grow volume, revenue and increase the profitability of this territory. We are seeking individuals with a hunter's mentality and prior experience working in the paint and coatings industry. This position will report into the Northeast Region Director of Sales.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Business or a Technical degree or equivalent experience
- 4 years sales and or business development experience in the fireproofing or protective coatings industry
- Preferred: Previous industrial sales experience and NACE certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires minimal physical activity.
- May require lifting up to 50lbs on occasion.
- May require computer usage for an extended period of time – up to 8 hours in a day. Occasional exposure to various chemicals.
- May require travel by car up to 50%, including nighttime.
Essential Functions:
- Drives sales growth by proactively engaging new and existing customers, staying tuned into their evolving needs, and monitoring market trends that impact buying decisions.
- Connects with customers and prospects to showcase product lines, new releases, service offerings, and availability—providing technical support when needed to help them make informed decisions.
- Secures and renews customer orders while partnering closely with Customer Service and Sales Management to ensure exceptional service levels and a seamless customer experience.
- Develops and executes a strategic territory sales plan focused on prospecting, new business generation, available market potential, and maximizing repeat business.
- Collaborates effectively across departments to deliver full-service support and ensure long-term customer satisfaction.
- Uses sound judgment and timely follow-through to resolve customer issues, including complaints, returns, claims, or product/service concerns.
- Monitors and reports key developments within accounts, prospects, competitors, and the broader market to support company strategy, research, and planning.
- Prepares comprehensive annual sales plans outlining target accounts and market opportunities.
- Provides Field Technical Service Engineering support when needed.
- Actively supports and upholds the company’s safety and quality initiatives.
