Role Description
Cara Cara is seeking a highly organized Production & Technical Design Intern to provide support across Production and Technical Design functions. This position offers the opportunity to gain practical experience throughout the product lifecycle, including sample management, supply chain processes, and technical development.
Duties
- Maintain and organize the production fit area, sample closet, and material archive, ensuring all materials are easily accessible and properly labeled.
- Prepare for production fittings by checking in production samples as they are delivered, log arrival into WIPs, steaming garments, & place samples in designated production rack to prepare for fittings.
- Measure garments and production samples to support the Technical Design team, ensuring accuracy against spec sheets and assisting with fit related updates.
- Attend fittings when needed to support note taking, organization, and post-fitting follow-up.
- Track sample status through the production process inline with the delivery calendar (TNA) which includes SMS through TOP stage.
- Assist in packaging, labeling, and organizing outbound shipments to factories, vendors, and partners.
- Track and reconcile incoming and outgoing samples to minimize loss and improve accountability.
- Exhibit initiative in supporting the team with production tasks, including assisting management with data entry, resolving urgent production needs, running errands, and streamlining processes, as necessary.
- Create, organize, and maintain seasonal production fabric materials, including swatches, mill cards, sample yardage cuttings, trims, and linesheet binders, ensuring proper documentation and storage from SMS through bulk production.
- Conduct quality control checks on all bulk packaging received with TOP samples, identifying, and resolving any potential issues before shipment.
- Support production handoff preparation by organizing samples, documentation, and materials for internal teams and external partners.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills in garment construction
- Familiarity with production processes and a passion for fashion design
- Previous internship or coursework in technical design or production is a plus
- Fashion Design, Production, or Technical Design undergraduate Junior/Senior or graduate
- Strong computer skills. Knowledge of Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Excel
- Time management skills and ability to work independently
- Garment measurement skills. Not required for applying, but a plus!
