Job Title: Project Manager – Civil Engineering (Land Development)

Reports To: Director of Engineering / Senior Project Manager

Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering land development projects from concept through construction. This role manages project scope, schedule, budget, and client communication while leading a team of engineers, designers, and support staff.
The Project Manager ensures that all work meets technical standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. Success in this role requires strong civil engineering knowledge, effective leadership, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage land development projects including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
- Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and work plans
- Coordinate internal teams and external consultants to ensure timely project delivery
- Identify risks and implement solutions to keep projects on track
- Manage scope changes and maintain clear project documentation
Technical Oversight
- Oversee preparation of engineering plans, reports, and specifications
- Provide guidance on site design, grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Review and approve technical deliverables prior to submission
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and stakeholders
- Lead meetings, presentations, and project updates
- Coordinate with municipalities and regulatory agencies for permitting and approvals
- Maintain strong client relationships and ensure satisfaction
Financial Management
- Track project budgets, invoices, and profitability
- Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and change orders
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions as needed
Team Leadership
- Lead and support engineers, designers, and technical staff
- Delegate tasks and ensure effective workload distribution
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback
- Support a collaborative and productive team environment
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of land development design, including grading, drainage, utilities, and site layout
- Familiarity with permitting processes and regulatory requirements
- Excellent project management, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience with hydrology and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, ICPR, or similar)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 5–10 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on land development
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Experience managing projects and coordinating with clients and agencies
Salary : $120,000 - $165,000
