A globally prominent and rapidly growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Accounting Manager / Plant Controller to serve as the key finance leader and business partner for their highly profitably manufacturing facility in New Haven, CT. This is a highly visible plant leadership role will report to the General Manager and focused on financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, controls, cost analysis, capital planning, and translating financial data into actionable business decisions for operations leadership. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the plant finance function and partner closely with the Plant Manager and business unit leadership to support operational and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, internal controls, company financial policies, and applicable reporting requirements.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance tracking for the facility, including clear communication of results and business trends.
- Identify key financial and operational levers to improve profitability, productivity, inventory performance, cost, delivery, and overall plant performance.
- Support capital appropriation requests, business case development, and post-project reviews to compare expected results against actual performance.
- Provide financial leadership, data analysis, and decision support to help the plant leadership team make sound business decisions.
- Supervise, coach, and develop members of the finance team while helping build stronger financial acumen across the broader site leadership group.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 7 years of related finance, accounting, or controllership experience, including at least 4 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX/internal controls, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial and operational data and communicate key takeaways clearly to non-finance leaders.
- Strong Excel/MS Office skills, with experience using ERP/reporting systems such as Oracle, Hyperion, or similar platforms preferred.
