Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level paralegal support to distinguished attorneys throughout various litigation matters.
- Conduct legal research of statutes, regulations, rules, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and codes as requested by attorneys.
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, subpoenas, motions, discovery requests and responses, proposed orders, and documents required to initiate legal proceedings and appeals, subject to attorney review and approval.
- Investigate factual matters by reviewing documents, interviewing witnesses, and researching public records and electronic information sources.
- Prepare chronologies, summaries, memoranda, charts, affidavits, and other analytical materials for attorney review.
- Coordinate conventional and electronic filing of pleadings, motions, briefs, proposed orders, and other submissions with court clerks.
- Track and assist in docketing litigation deadlines, including pleadings, discovery, pretrial, briefing, and appeal deadlines.
- Arrange and coordinate service of subpoenas to witnesses and parties.
- Gather and organize documents and potential exhibits for discovery, hearings, trials, and appeals; identify privileged and confidential materials for attorney review.
- Assist with vendors, including copying services, investigators, process servers, court reporting services, and temporary clerical staff.
- Summarize testimony from depositions, hearings, and trials; conduct searches within electronic litigation databases.
- Review the accuracy and validity of citations and quotations in briefs; prepare indices and tables of authorities; organize exhibits and appendices.
- Assist in scheduling and preparing witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial testimony.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in commercial litigation within a law firm environment.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Proficiency in e-filing systems and electronic litigation databases.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year college or university; or
- Associate’s degree with at least two (2) years of prior relevant experience; or
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least five (5) years of prior relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
