Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Execution Superintendent – Fixed Assets provides strategic and operational leadership for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of all fixed plant assets, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and tailings/water management facilities. This role ensures equipment availability, asset integrity, and maintenance execution align with production objectives, lifecycle asset management principles, and Capstone Copper’s Asset Management Framework (AMF).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety & Compliance: Champion Capstone Copper Values while ensuring full compliance with MSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and Pinto Valley Mine policies. Foster a strong safety-first culture, ensure employee and contractor certifications, and uphold all statutory and company maintenance standards.
- Asset Management & Reliability: Execute and sustain the Life Cycle Asset Management Program by developing and implementing maintenance strategies that optimize asset reliability, availability, and lifecycle cost. Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs across all fixed plant assets.
- Maintenance Execution: Oversee maintenance activities for crushing, grinding, flotation, and tailings/water management circuits. Ensure effective execution of maintenance plans, overhauls, shutdowns, component replacements, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Planning & Integration: Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, and Planning to align maintenance execution with production requirements, long-term asset health, and business priorities. Support long-range planning and capital project development for plant upgrades and replacements.
- Reliability Improvement: Champion continuous improvement through data-driven decision making, root cause analysis, defect elimination, and condition-based maintenance practices to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
- Budget & Cost Control: Manage maintenance budgets, critical spares, and consumables to meet operational and financial targets. Support development and execution of the Maintenance Strategic Business Plan, including shutdown optimization and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance supervisors, planners, and trades personnel. Build technical capability, accountability, and performance through coaching, training, and succession planning.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Provide accurate and timely reporting on maintenance performance, reliability metrics, and budget performance. Use KPIs and dashboards to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Engage and oversee contractors and service providers to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution of maintenance activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement best practices, system enhancements, and process improvements to optimize maintenance efficiency, governance, and overall plant performance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
- Minimum 10 years of direct maintenance experience in the mining industry, including preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of fixed plant maintenance within mineral processing operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
- Demonstrated understanding of asset lifecycle management, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and condition monitoring practices.
- Working knowledge of applicable mining and mineral processing legislation and regulations.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems (SAP or similar).
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook; Project/Visio preferred).
- Ability to read, interpret, and redline schematics and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English fluently.
Preferred
- Experience in a copper mining operation.
- Experience using SAP or similar enterprise systems.
