IT Support Specialist – Tier 1
Location: Onsite in Omaha, NE
Employment Type: W-2; 6-month contract-to-hire
Schedule: Some on-call and after-hours support, including occasional holidays and possible rotating weekends.
Candidate must not need sponsorship now or in the future.
Capstone IT is helping our client to hire an IT Support Specialist. This person will be responsible for providing first-level technical support for end users. This role manages incoming tickets, resolving routine hardware and software issues, and escalating more complex problems to Tier 2 support.
Responsibilities
- Respond to support requests, prioritize tickets, and document issues and resolutions.
- Troubleshoot Windows and Apple computers, Microsoft 365, printers, phones, and basic network issues.
- Provide timely support for point-of-sale systems.
- Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining workstations, network devices, software, and device drivers.
- Maintain user accounts and access to network resources.
- Support audio/visual equipment and guide users on equipment and software use.
- Coordinate with Tier 2 support, other departments, and vendors to resolve issues.
Work Requirements
- Work onsite and travel between work areas to provide support, including occasional outdoor work in inclement weather.
- Occasionally lift equipment weighing 25–50 pounds.
- Participate in scheduled on-call, weekend, holiday, and after-hours coverage as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in IT, information systems, or computer science, or 2 years of related experience.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, Windows, Apple platforms, and Microsoft 365.
- Familiarity with network hardware and cabling.
- Strong customer service, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to prioritize requests and work independently or with a team.
