The position accurately checks out and bags groceries, processes payments, assists customers, collects shopping carts from the parking lot, stocks and faces merchandise, cleans assigned areas, and supports other store departments as needed.

IMPORTANT - This is a part-time position. You must be at least 18 years old.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide premier customer service by greeting customers, listening to their needs, answering questions, and thanking them for shopping with Capri Markets.
• Accurately and efficiently scan or enter merchandise, quantities, product codes, prices, discounts, coupons, and promotions at the checkout.
• Process cash, credit, debit, EBT, gift card, coupon, and other approved payment methods according to company procedures.
• Count money, make correct change, issue receipts, and maintain accountability for the assigned cash drawer.
• Follow all procedures for voids, overrides, refunds, exchanges, price checks, rain checks, and customer complaints, obtaining management approval when required.
• Verify identification and follow all laws and company policies governing age-restricted products and transactions.
• Bag groceries carefully and efficiently, separating products as appropriate to protect food quality and prevent damage.
• Offer carry-out assistance and help customers load purchases when requested or assigned.
• Collect shopping carts from the parking lot, return them to designated areas, and keep cart corrals and entrances orderly.
• Use caution around moving vehicles, pedestrians, weather, ice, snow, heat, and other outdoor conditions while collecting carts or assisting customers.
• Stock, rotate, face, price, and maintain merchandise at the front end and in other assigned areas of the store.
• Return unwanted merchandise and go-backs to the proper departments and assist with product and price checks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-supplied checkout lane, service area, entrance, cart area, and assigned work spaces.
• Sweep, mop, wipe, empty trash, clean spills, and perform other assigned cleaning duties using approved chemicals and procedures.
• Monitor checkout supplies, bags, receipt paper, register tape, and other front-end materials and notify management when replenishment is needed.
• Understand the store's layout and personally assist customers in locating products when requested.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads and be able to answer customer questions about promotions.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold throughout the store and make helpful product suggestions when appropriate.
• Support stocking, facing, inventory, unloading, and other store operations during slower checkout periods or as assigned.
• Safeguard cash, payment information, customer information, keys, equipment, and other company property.
• Remain alert for suspected theft, scams, counterfeit currency, transaction irregularities, or safety concerns and promptly notify management without confronting customers.
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
• Inspect checkout and cart-handling equipment before use and notify management of items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents, injuries, spills, or other safety incidents.
• Promote trust, respect, cooperation, and teamwork among associates.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer, employee, cash-handling, and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer, transaction, safety, or business issues.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• This position has no required education or prior experience.
• Previous cashier, retail, grocery, or customer-service experience is helpful but not required.
• Must complete required register, payment, safety, age-restricted-sales, and customer-service training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Basic addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and currency calculations.
• Ability to count cash, make change, verify transaction totals, and reconcile an assigned cash drawer.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• No license or certification is required unless required by law for an assigned duty.
• Company training is required before operating checkout, cart-handling, stocking, or cleaning equipment.

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

Associates may be required to use standard front-end and store equipment after required training and authorization, including but not limited to:

• Slip-resistant shoes with closed toe and heel
• Uniform per store policy
• Weather-appropriate outerwear for cart collection
• Point-of-sale register, scanner, scale, payment terminal, and receipt printer
• Shopping carts, cart straps, and approved cart-handling equipment
• Brooms, mops, cleaning tools, and approved cleaning chemicals
• Stocking carts, ladders, pallet jacks, balers, or compactors only when trained and authorized

PAY RANGE (depends on industry experience and the applicable union wage schedule)

Wages starting at $15.25/hour, subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement and wage schedule.

Work Schedule (depends on availability and store needs)

Permanent Part-Time positions available. Some/Most may require availability on nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be available based on the store's needs and the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
