Summary:
The Commercial Underwriter is responsible for ensuring strong credit quality, profitability and customer satisfaction. This role supports commercial lenders by conducting financial analysis and underwriting for credit requests and monitoring loan performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial analysis on borrowers, assess risks, and prepare credit memos for approval.
- Monitor loan performance, identify potential risks, and work with lending team to implement proactive measures to minimize credit losses.
- Assist in managing client relationships, providing financial insights, and responding to client needs.
- Stay informed about industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes affecting the portfolio.
- Work closely with lenders, credit officers, and leadership to optimize portfolio growth and stability.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow analysis and credit underwriting principles.
- Knowledge of banking regulations, loan structuring and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and additional banking systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field (Master’s preferred but not required).
- 3 years experience in commercial lending, credit analysis or portfolio management within banking.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at one time.
