Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair residential HVAC systems such as furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation units, and refrigeration equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure efficiency and longevity; perform system inspections and tune-ups.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems using tools like ohmmeters and other diagnostic devices; identify electrical or refrigerant leaks promptly.
- Perform plumbing work related to HVAC systems, including condensate drain cleaning and pipe repairs.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete work orders accurately, and communicate clearly with clients about system status and recommended solutions.
- Adhere to safety protocols during all field service activities; operate vehicles such as drivers’ license requirements for timely job site access.
Skills
- Extensive construction knowledge with experience in installing HVAC systems in residential settings.
- Proven service technician experience with a strong understanding of HVAC/R (refrigeration) principles.
- Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings; familiarity with HVAC design concepts is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge covering plumbing, refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration, boilers, and appliance repair.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters for electrical troubleshooting; capable of performing equipment repair and welding when necessary.
- Experience in property maintenance tasks related to air conditioning units and overall building climate control systems.
