Position Overview
Capitol City Electric seeks a detail-oriented Project Accountant to manage project financials for data center construction projects. You will be the financial partner to project teams — handling job setup, billing (including AIA), subcontractor pay applications, and project reporting. This role requires strong construction project accounting skills, accuracy, and the ability to streamline processes using construction accounting systems.
Key responsibilities
Project accounting & billing
- Set up new jobs: collect contract data, assign cost codes and billing terms.
- Prepare and generate customer invoices (AIA, T&M, progress billings).
- Support project managers in reconciling budgets to purchase orders and tracking change orders.
- Maintain WIP schedules and prepare monthly project cost and variance reports.
- Handle tax-exempt project forms and ensure correct billing for tax-exempt work.
Subcontractors & compliance
- Review and process subcontractor pay applications and retainage.
- Maintain subcontract closeout documentation and ensure required paperwork is collected before final payment.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or relevant work experience.
- 2–5 years’ experience in project or construction accounting.
- Strong knowledge of construction billing methods.
- Experience with bank reconciliations and journal entries.
- Proficiency in ERP, Sage (preferred)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with sales tax rules and tax-exempt project handling is a plus.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
