Medical Assistant / Mohs Surgical Assistant

Capital Skin Laser is a state-of-the-art surgical, cosmetic, and laser dermatology practice in Columbia, South Carolina. We are seeing an enthusiastic Medical and Surgical Assistant to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet patients, accompany them to the examination room, and obtain medical histories
• Assist physicians with dermatologic surgery and laser procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical trays and fields
• Set up and break down procedure rooms
• Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
• Maintain laser safety standards
• Perform suture removals and wound care
• Provide pre- and post-operative patient education
• Assist Physician/PA in clinic (obtain brief history/reason for visit)
• Answer patient questions, address concerns, and communicate laboratory results
• Prepare biopsy specimens and maintain procedure documentation
• Clean and restock examination rooms, stock and organize clinical and surgical supplies
• Support and safe, efficient, and patient-centered clinical environment
• Maintain HIPAA, OSHA, and infection-control standards

Job Requirements

• Previous experience in the medical field is required; previous experience in dermatology is preferable
• Certified Medical Assistant
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient during busy clinic and surgery days
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, friendly and engaging self-starter
• Commitment to continuous learning
• Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
