About the Role
As a Staff Accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our financials while supporting the day-to-day operations of a growing, project-based business. This is a hands-on role where you’ll own core accounting processes, contribute to monthly close, and partner with teams across the business to keep our financial data clean, timely, and actionable.
This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, curious, and looking to build a strong foundation in accounting within a fast-moving environment.
You Will
- Core Accounting Execution: Own day-to-day accounting activities including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and transaction coding with a high level of accuracy.
- Reconciliations & Close Support: Prepare and complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations. Support the month-end close process to ensure timelines and accuracy are met.
- Data Accuracy & Validation: Review transactions and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy before posting or reporting. Catch issues early and proactively resolve discrepancies.
- Reporting Support: Assist in preparing financial reports and maintaining reporting tools that support leadership visibility into business performance.
- Cash Flow Awareness: Track incoming and outgoing payments to support accurate cash flow visibility and timing.
- Process Integrity & Controls: Follow and uphold internal controls, maintain organized documentation, and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with project managers, vendors, and internal teams to gather financial data and ensure alignment between operations and accounting.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce errors, and create more efficient workflows as the company scales.
- Work as one team: Jump in to assist with other tasks when needed.
What You Bring
- 3-5 years of professional accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
- Experience with reconciliations and general ledger accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Clear and professional communication skills
- A proactive, team-first mindset
Bonus Points
- Experience in construction or project-based accounting environments
- Familiarity with systems like Sage 100 Contractor, Sage Paperless, or Vista
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
