THE TYPE OF LEAD PREMIUM BILLING ANALYST WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 1-year certificate from a college or technical school OR 2 years of related experience and/or training OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years of direct experience preferred)
- Strong analytical and communication skills with keen attention to detail
- Ability to read, interpret, and compose clear correspondence
- Effective presentation skills in 1-on-1 and small group settings
- Sound judgment in a variety of situations
- Solid mathematical aptitude, including working with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas)
- Familiarity with billing or financial systems and standard office equipment
- Commitment to accuracy, professionalism, and building positive relationships with customers and colleagues
WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE OUR LEAD PREMIUM BILLING ANALYST
You will work full-time in our Premium Billing Department. You'll collaborate during standard business hours, with occasional need to adapt to department priorities and deadlines.
As a Lead Premium Billing Analyst, you will own the end-to-end billing process for multiple lines of business, ensuring that every payment is posted accurately, invoices are generated on time, and statements are balanced with precision and compliance. You will reconcile accounts receivable, resolve complex discrepancies, and manage ACH applications, payment authorizations, refunds, and premium reallocations. Your day will include reviewing aging reports, coordinating collections and write-offs, and responding to inquiries from members, groups, and internal teams. You'll ensure compliance with all relevant regulations as you maintain demographics, coverage levels, and premium rates tables. Mentoring Billing Analysts, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and serving as the department's subject matter expert will be central to your role. You'll help drive process improvements, support system migrations, and act as a backup for key specialists as needed.
