Position: Optician
Location: Boise, Idaho
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, closed for lunch 12:30-1:30
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and lens enhancements that best meet their visual and lifestyle needs.
- Perform frame fittings, adjustments, and repairs.
- Accurately measure pupillary distance (PD) and optical centers.
- Interpret and process eyeglass prescriptions.
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and eyewear products.
- Verify eyewear orders and ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain inventory and assist with merchandising displays.
- Provide exceptional customer service and build lasting patient relationships.
- Support front office operations as needed.
- Billing out exams and materials to most major vision insurances.
- Ordering contact lenses for patients.
Qualifications
- Previous optician experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with electronic health records and optical software.
- Positive attitude and commitment to outstanding patient care.
- Accountability and ownership.
- Experience billing VSP, EyeMed, and Medicaid preferred.
