The Times-Picayune seeks an experienced reporter to join our business desk in New Orleans, a regional hub of commerce and a globally renowned cultural mecca. Our major industries — tourism, trade and energy — are undergoing profound changes. And while our city and state have many challenges, there are also big opportunities for people and companies with ideas and solutions.
The successful candidate will have an eye for revelatory stories and a knack for showing how companies, industries and the people that lead them impact the daily lives of our readers. This is a beat reporting position, which calls for a healthy mix of daily stories, features and longer-term enterprise. We’re looking for someone with a track record of finding scoops and experience with breaking news. A background in business reporting is preferred but not required. Strong, clear writing that considers the needs and interests of readers is essential.
Our four-person business team is part of a fast-paced, locally owned news organization that’s bucking industry trends and expanding to reach a growing audience. With over 150 journalists, the Times-Picayune and its sister publications and websites across Louisiana serve millions of readers each month. And we’re looking to grow in new corners of the state and across the Gulf South.
