Role Description:
We’re looking for a Chief Engineer to lead our Building Engineer team and keep our properties in great shape. This role is hands-on and leadership-focused—you’ll guide the team, set priorities, and make sure everything is running smoothly. You’ll work closely with property managers and vendors to keep things efficient, safe, and successful.
You’ll also help plan maintenance programs, troubleshoot issues, and jump in when emergencies happen. If you’re a natural leader who knows building systems inside and out, this is the role for you.
This is a roving team where each engineer supports a portfolio of properties on a pre-determined weekly schedule.
A background in project management, construction management, or leading a service-based team would be strong experience for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Team: Manage and mentor our Building Engineers, making sure work gets done right and on time. Help with coordinating portfolios and schedules and act as a liaison between the engineers and operations team.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee maintenance and repairs on building systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical components.
- Ensure timely completion of all work orders and maintain accurate documentation.
- Monitor and optimize building automation systems for efficiency and tenant comfort.
- Stay Safe & Compliant: Ensure everything follows safety rules and building regulations.
- Improve & Innovate: Look for ways to make systems more efficient and build our engineering team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience in building maintenance or engineering, with 2 years leading a team.
- Solid knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and project management skills.
- Great communicator and team player who puts customer service first.
- Willing to be on-call for emergencies.
