We need SAP TM functional consultants who can take a blueprint design and turn it into a working, tested system.
You'll be configuring SAP TM from the ground up for a major CPG Client carrier tendering, freight settlement, dock scheduling, and shipment execution while working alongside business users who live and breathe transportation operations daily.
The onshore resource will lead workshop facilitation and client-facing design sessions. Offshore resources will drive configuration, unit testing, and documentation with guidance from the architect.
Key Responsibilities:
SAP TM configuration across all functional areas: freight order management, carrier selection and tendering (waterfall, broadcast, spot bid), transportation planning, execution monitoring, and event processing.
Freight settlement configuration: calculation sheets, rate tables (up to 14 dimensions), charge calculation rules, invoice verification, and dispute management workflows
Carrier master data setup: business partners with SCAC codes, equipment types, hazmat certifications, carrier-specific settings, and freight agreement structures
Transportation zone and lane configuration mapping location network into SAP TMs zone/lane model for rate determination
PC Miler (FTL) and SMC3 (LTL) integration configuration for distance/duration determinationDock scheduling configuration for appointment management and time slot allocation
BN4L carrier collaboration setup carrier registration, freight order tendering workflows, tracking event configuration
Fiori app activation and role-based Transportation Cockpit configuration for dispatcher, planner, and analyst personas
Functional specification documents (FSDs) for any required enhancements (BAdI/BRF no Z-programs)
Unit testing and string testing of all configured scenarios
Support for SIT and UAT test script preparation, defect analysis, and resolution
Data migration support: mapping carrier, lane, and rate data into SAP TM master data structures
Must-Have Experience:
2 full-lifecycle SAP TM implementations as a functional consultant configuration, testing, and go-live support
Hands-on configuration experience in at least 3 of these areas: carrier tendering, freight settlement (calculation sheets and rate tables), transportation planning, dock scheduling, event management
Freight agreement and rate table setup understanding of multi-dimensional rating (by lane, equipment type, weight break, commodity, carrier) and fuel surcharge configuration
Master data configuration: business partners, locations, transportation zones, lanes, vehicle/equipment types, and resources
SAP TM testing ability to build end-to-end test scenarios covering order-to-delivery, tendering, execution, and settlement
Working knowledge of ERP-to-TM integration touchpoints: sales orders triggering transportation demands, delivery-to-freight-order linkage, PGI triggers, and FI/CO posting from freight settlement
Ability to write clear functional specifications for BAdI/BRF enhancements
Comfortable leading workshops with business users translating how we do it today into how SAP TM will handle it
Highly Preferred:
S/4HANA TM experience (not just ECC-based LE-TRA)
BN4L configuration carrier portal setup, EDI message mapping (204/990/214/210), and tracking event integration
CPG, beverage, or food distribution industry experience understanding of DSD routes, seasonal volume spikes, temperature-controlled transport, and high-frequency delivery operations
Experience migrating from a third-party TMS (E2Open, Mercury Gate, Oracle OTM, Blue Yonder) to SAP TM understanding the data mapping challenges (rate structures don't map 1:1)
SAP Event Management configuration for shipment tracking and exception alerting
Multi-org-unit configuration supporting different business rules, carrier relationships, and rate structures across multiple organizational entities on a shared platform
FourKites or project44 visibility platform integration experience
Fiori launchpad customization and SAP TM standard app configuration
SAP TM certification (C_TM_95 or equivalent)
For offshore resources: overlap availability with US Eastern Time (minimum 4 hours daily)
