Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Developer with deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2. The ideal candidate will lead modernization initiatives for distribution applications and mainframe development support projects, ensuring seamless integration with modern platforms while maintaining business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess existing mainframe environments (COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2) and identify modernization opportunities.
- Define modernization strategies including replatforming, refactoring, rehosting, and rearchitecting.
- Create reference architectures, blueprints, and roadmaps for modernization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of modernized components.
- Evaluate and implement tools for code transformation.
- Support CI/CD enablement and DevOps practices for modernized applications.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Ensure modernization efforts align with business goals and performance benchmarks.
- Work in Agile/Scrum environments and participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Document technical designs, architecture decisions, and modernization strategies.
- Identify continuous productivity improvement opportunities.
- Participate in day-to-day issues regarding service delivery.
- Maintain and provide status and performance reports.
- Review daily deliverables from offshore teams and provide status updates to onshore stakeholders.
- Provide technical domain clarifications to offshore developers.
Requirements:
- 15 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe technologies: COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2.
- Strong background in Application Development, Maintenance, and Support.
- Expertise in Project Management, Analysis, Design, Coding, Reviews, and Unit Testing.
- Proven experience in modernization strategies and mainframe transformation projects.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern development methodologies.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud migration or hybrid architectures.
- Knowledge of modern programming languages and integration tools.
- Exposure to automation tools for code conversion and testing.
