What are the responsibilities and job description for the Para Educator position at Cape Flattery School District?
Location: Neah Bay Middle and High School
Salary: $24.74 per hour/ 6 hour per day for remainder of the 25.26 school year
Closing Date: When filled Employment Date: As soon as filled
This position is represented by Union Membership
Full school year positions are based on 181 days plus holidays and pay is divided over twelve months. Employees hired after the school year begins will be paid based on the number of days to be worked and divided by the number of months left in the fiscal year.
Qualifications:
- Completed at least 2 years of study (72 quarter credits or 48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education OR
- Earned associate's (or higher) degree OR
- Can Demonstrate (by passing the Paraprofessional on-line test)
a) knowledge of, and ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and math
b) knowledge of, and ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing and math readiness.
4. Have or can obtain clearance from Washington State Patrol and the FBI background check.
5. One to three years of experience working in an educational setting
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability and desire to work as part of a team.
- Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and good academic skills.
- Ability to take and follow directions
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Respond promptly and appropriately to crisis situations. Must be responsible and reliable.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist with the implementation of learning skills working one-on-one or in groups settings.
- Provide support services to students speech therapist. Monitor students on playground/gymnasium, instructional settings.
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers and other para educators.
- Maintain privacy and protection of information as mandated by the code of ethics, federal and state regulation, and school district policies
- Maintain a positive attitude, good work ethic, and demonstrate promptness in work arrival and in accomplishing all tasks.
- Other duties as assigned by Teacher or Building Administrator.
