Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Electrical Controls Technician to join our manufacturing and operations teams. We serve customers across NC, SC, and VA, the technician will be responsible for installing and maintaining chemical dosing and monitoring equipment. This role will require traveling to customer sites and overnight travel.
This role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical control systems within an industrial environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in industrial electrician work, automation, and control systems, with a strong background in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor controls, instrumentation, and industrial networks to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The technician will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous operation of equipment, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and schematics to uphold safety and efficiency standards.
Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), sensors, wiring, conduits, and related devices.
- Conduct calibration and maintenance of precision measuring instruments to ensure optimal system performance.
- Interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, AutoCAD drawings, and wiring diagrams to accurately diagnose issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as chemical pumps, level sensors, flow meters, and ancillary equipment.
- Utilize field service techniques to resolve electrical or mechanical failures promptly to minimize downtime.
- Conduct testing using ohmmeters, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools to verify system integrity.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades following safety protocols and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on system improvements utilizing knowledge of mechanical systems and sensors.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to high voltage and low voltage electrical systems.
Skills
- Extensive experience with industrial electrician work including low voltage and high voltage systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory (voltage, current, power, circuit design).
- Mechanical aptitude for accurate component assembly.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of UL508A and NEC standards.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, sensors, and calibration procedures.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and AutoCAD drawings for troubleshooting and installation purposes.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial networks.
- Ability to operate precision measuring instruments such as ohmmeters for accurate diagnostics.
- Familiarity with industrial maintenance practices within manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to high voltage electrical work and field service operations.
- Experience working with manufacturing equipment in various sectors including military or other highly regulated industries is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate technical information to team members and clients.
