Supervises the monitor techs in the Centralized Telemetry Room as well as participates in the observation of cardiac monitors as needed.MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
1. Performs supervisory duties for the shift.
2. Assists staff to resolve clinical issues.
3. Assumes responsibility for monitoring cardiac rhythms.
4. Performs telemetry monitoring duties.
5. Alerts nurse to respond to alarms resulting from rhythm changes
6. Alerts nursing assistant or other competent staff member to respond to equipment or reception alarms (such as “leads off” or “low battery.”)
7. Prints and documents strip assessment every four hours, on admission, during a code, upon request and as rhythms/rates change.
8. Manages multiple priorities.
9. Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Current Paramedic certification by the State of North Carolina required
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as sponsored by American Heart Association required.
Work Experience:
Minimum of one year experience as a Paramedic.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
Physical Requirements:
Works at Computer/Monitor for long periods.
Remains calm under emergency situations.
Sits for prolonged periods; must be able to communicate verbally.
Must possess auditory and visual acuity to accurately perform job functions.
Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
