Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting land surveys, mapping, and data collection to support civil engineering, construction, and land development projects. This role requires proficiency with advanced surveying technology and software, as well as a solid understanding of geomatics principles. The Surveyor will play a critical role in ensuring accurate boundary delineations, topographic mapping, and project planning. Experience with GPS surveying, CAD software, and managing surveying teams is highly desirable. The position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects utilizing cutting-edge tools such as GIS, 3D scanners, and Revit.
Duties
- Conduct land surveys including boundary, ALTA, topographic, and construction surveys using professional surveying equipment such as Trimble and GPS systems.
- Collect and analyze surveying data to produce accurate maps, schematics, and legal descriptions.
- Operate and maintain surveying instruments including total stations, 3D scanners, GPS units, and CAD software.
- Prepare detailed survey reports and drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, ArcGIS, and Carlson software.
- Manage field surveying teams to ensure efficient data collection and adherence to project timelines.
- Develop project plans for land development projects including construction surveys and topographic mapping.
- Collaborate with civil engineers and project managers to interpret plans and ensure survey accuracy for construction plans and schematics.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and standards related to land surveying practices.
- Oversee the management of mapping or surveying teams during large-scale projects.
- Utilize GIS tools for spatial analysis and manage large datasets for various surveying applications.
Experience
- Proven experience in land surveying with knowledge of boundary surveys, construction surveys, topographic mapping, and ALTA surveys.
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), MicroStation, Revit, Carlson, ArcGIS, and GPS surveying technology such as Trimble systems.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles including geometry, trigonometry, algebra, schematics development, and project management.
- Ability to operate advanced surveying equipment including 3D scanners and GPS units effectively in the field.
- Experience managing or leading surveying teams on complex projects.
- Familiarity with legal descriptions related to property boundaries and construction plans.
- Excellent skills in data collection, drafting, CAD design, topographic mapping, and managing survey data accuracy.
- Knowledge of GIS applications for spatial analysis is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with project teams and clients.
